SHAPING THE BALLS

At first you should think about what kind of prayer beads you would like to make. Either a long tasbih with 99 pearls or a short variation with 33 pearls, which is the one I made. I have decided to use approx. 1 cm (25/64 inches) ball diameter for the prayer beads. Since we will be adding another layer of modelling material later on for the pattern, towards the end the pearl will have a diameter of approx. 1,5 cm (39/64 inches).

In addition, you will need 2 spacers made out of balls. This is needed to let you know when a unit of beads is finished. You will need 7 more pearls in order to close off the tasbih. In total you will need 42 balls for the small version and 108 balls for the longer one.

INCORPORATING MARBLING

Now we would like to incorporate the marble pattern into our prayer beads.
